Ty Beleug: Frequently Asked Questions

Live Like a Breton on France's Western Coast

You'll step into the Brittany of yesteryear when you enter this charming stone cottage through its round-top Dutch door. Affectionately known as "Ty Beleug" or "Priest's Cottage," the quarried-granite two-level home is in St. Colomban Village, a protected historic village that dates to the 18th century.
Ty Beleug (pronounced "tee bay-LUG") is walking distance to several of southern Brittany's most famous beaches, and handy to weekly open-air markets. The ground floor is taken up mostly by the wood-beamed living room, which is dominated by a stone fireplace and hearth in traditional Breton style. There is also ample room for the large round dining table. The fully-equipped kitchen has a window with a view of the back yard, and all the dishes, glasses, utensils, and pots and pans you'll need.
Accessible by a spiral staircase, the second level has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two singles. There is a bathroom with shower, sink and washing machine, and a separate WC. Each bedroom has a closet and a chest of drawers. The master bedroom has a view of the chapel. The "children's room," with a view of the back yard, is equipped with a sink.
All the rooms have high-efficiency electric wall radiators.
The private back yard, surrounded by granite stone walls, is highlighted by hydrangea bushes and roses, and features the best view in the village of the famous St. Colomban Chapel, with its Flamboyant Gothic style.
For those who enjoy walking, there is a beautiful coastal trail that starts right from the Village, and many more coastal trails in the area.

La Maison
Entrez dans la maison (Ty Beleug ou "la maison du curé"), et vous trouverez au rez de chaussée un séjour avec poutres apparentes et cheminée, ainsi qu'une cuisine. Elle est équipée d'une cuisinière à induction, un lave vaisselle, un frigidaire et un micro-onde. Le mobilier du séjour comprend un canapé, 3 fauteuils, 2 buffets, une table de salle à manger ronde et 6 chaises. Vous accédez au premier étage par un escalier en colimaçon. Il y a 2 chambres, (l'une avec un grand lit d'1m60 et l'autre avec 2 lits d'une personne en 90cm), une salle de bains et WC séparé. L'une des chambres a aussi un lavabo. Chaque chambre comprend une commode et une penderie. Les 2 étages peuvent être chauffés par radiateurs électriques.
Le jardin est clos et entouré d'un mur en pierre. Le mobilier de jardin comprend une table et 5 chaises en bois. Vous y avez une vue splendide du clocher, de style gothique.
La maison se trouve dans le village de Saint Colomban, à côté de la chapelle. Le village  date du 18e siècle et est classé. Il fait partie de la commune de Carnac.
Il y a plusieurs plages accessibles à pied, dont l'une par un sentier qui part du village.
Si vous aimez la marche, un sentier côtier part directement du village. Les environs de Carnac, avec ses alignements et dolmens, donnent au randonneur de nombreux choix de promenades, sur la côte et à l'intérieur.
